Double, upright purple-black flowers. Stems which are increasingly hairy higher up, with a basal mass of leaves divided into nine lobes.
Position:
Easy to go in most situations, including clay and alkaline soils. Gently seeds around in sun or part shade. Very promiscuous so keep varieties apart to keep true to name.
